The Adirondack Trail Blazers will sponsor two upcoming events at the Strand Theatre in Old Forge that will benefit the Boonville-based baseball team.
The first event, Cartoon Mania, will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 26 and 27, featuring 14 classic Looney Tunes cartoons.
Showings will be held both days at noon and 3 p.m.
Seven cartoon shorts will be shown prior to an intermission that will include games, giveaways and an appearance by the Trail Blazers’ mascot, Adirondack Jack.
Following intermission, the remaining cartoons will be screened. Admission is $5.
On Saturday, May 3, the baseball club will sponsor a screening of The Beatles’ classic film, A Hard Day’s Night.
The event, held in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the film’s release, will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by solo musical artist John Coleman, who will play Beatles favorites.
There will be raffles, a 50/50, games and prizes, followed by a viewing of the film. Admission is $10.
The Adirondack Trail Blazers is one of 10 teams included in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, which is currently ranked ninth among the top collegiate baseball summer leagues.
Their home field is the Robert S. Smith Sports Complex in Boonville.
“The PGCBL is a great league, and they continuously keep moving up and trying to evolve. They have a good track record of getting players exposed and moving on to the next level to further their careers,” said Ray DiBrango, Adirondack Trail Blazers general manager.
