Quilts Unlimited Exhibit ending Jan. 5th with raffle

A raffle of a full-size quilt, stitched and donated by the Pointed Pine Quilters of Old Forge, will mark the ending of the Quilts Unlimited Exhibition at View on Sunday, January 5th.

The “Northern Wilderness Quilt” is currently on display at the exhibit. Tickets for the raffle are available at View for $2 each or three for $5 and can be purchased in person or by calling (315) 369-6411 ext. 201.

The quilt is made of 16 individual appliqued scenes and features a block devoted to deer and another of a canoeist. The deer represent the large local deer population and the canoeist, the Adirondack Canoe Classic, the iconic 90-Miler canoe race which launches from Old Forge to Saranac Lake.

The quilt was machine-pieced and hand-quilted by members of the Pointed Pine Quilters in the quilting room at the Old Forge Library where they meet weekly. The group is known to create quilts for raffle which benefit View and other area nonprofit groups.

Admission to the Quilts Unlimited Exhibition is $8 or $4 for View members. Admission for groups of 10 or more will be discounted by $2 per person. Children under 12 are admitted free of charge.
