Herkimer County Office for the Aging is seeking individuals who would like to assist seniors in their community with such tasks as transportation, shopping, housekeeping, yard work, and meal preparation.
The Office for the Aging has sent a job pool list to seniors throughout the county to help provide services in their home at a reasonable cost. The seniors identify their individual needs, select who they want to hire from the pool list, and notify the Office for the Aging.
Seniors who are interested in receiving help but have not received a job pool list can contact the office at (315) 867-1415 or go to the website: herkimercounty.org.
The Office for the Aging performs criminal background checks and checks the references of job pool candidates. Prospective workers provide the tasks they are willing to do, the times they are available to work and their suggested hourly rate.
Workers are considered private contractors, not employees of the Office for the Aging.
Registration forms are available by calling the number above or can be downloaded from the website.
The Office for the Aging reports that it is in desperate need of workers in the Frankfort/ Schuyler, Salisbury Center, Remsen and Old Forge areas.
