Great Camp Sagamore names Livermore new exec. director

Great Camp Sagamore has announced that Garet Livermore of Cooperstown has been selected as its new executive director.

Livermore, who has been vice president for Education at the New York State Historical Association & The Farmers’ Museum in Cooperstown for the past 15 years, will replace

Beverly Bridger who will be retiring at the end of the year.

Bridger has served has Sagamore’s executive director since 1989.

“Garet Livermore will be an effective and creative executive director. We are privileged to welcome him,” Bridger said.

Great Camp Sagamore in Raquette Lake was built in 1897 and became the Vanderbilt family wilderness retreat from 1901 to1954.

It is now under the auspices of a not-for-profit organization that preserves its 27 Nation Historic Landmark designated buildings and is dedicated to their use for educational and interpretive purposes.

An active tourism partner in the Adirondacks, Great Camp Sagamore welcomes 10,000 visitors each year to its site.
