LETTER: Candidate says room for improvement in Forestport

An Open Letter  to the voters of Forestport:

The Republican primary on September 10th is fast approaching and I want to be honest about the direction that I would like the town to move in.

If you don’t agree, you will not vote for me and that is okay because you will be making an informed decision.

I would like to promote commerce for the village of Forestport by putting signs on 28 above and below the village directing traffic to the scenic falls, village business district and twin bridges.

We must advance action against abandoned buildings. We need to repair the Horton Bridge.

I spoke with Jack Adams about working with the White Otter on a summer event such as the Horse Expo or other ideas and the club is very interested in moving forward.

The Planning Board and the Codes Department need to be more user-friendly and helpful to the taxpayers and the contractors while directing our townspeople through the maze of the APA, EPA, Canal Authority/Blue Line regulations and the building codes.

We must continue with efforts to keep the Woodgate Post Office open. It is very important to form a committee to work with the lakes to help prevent invasive species from proliferating. Keep the zero Town Tax.

Work with the new board to control health insurance for the town with out reneging on agreements with current employees.

No equalization revaluation of town properties. Investigate the possibility of better uniting the Fire Companies and exploring the options and cost of regaining a town ambulance service.

Support and continue to promote the Christmas Parade. I would like to see the Summer Recreation program based out of the old Woodgate School.

Win or lose, I will work to form a Chamber of Commerce to promote business Town-wide.

Parker Snead, Forestport

Republican candidate for Town Supervisor
