Heavy winds challenge 4th Lake sailing racers

The Central Adirondack Sailing Association held its third weekend of races of the 2013 season on Fourth Lake on July 20th.

While it was a beautiful day, the sailors had to battle heavy winds to keep their boats upright and progressing around the course.

A number of the boats had equipment failures and only six of the eight boats completed all three races.

The Zornow boat sailed well in its debut of the season capturing first place overall for the day.

Tom P. McCabe with crew Laura Hyatt was happy to report their 56 year old boat stayed in one piece during the race and came in seconnd place overall.

The Mark Steigerwald/ JohnJeffrey duo won in a tiebreaker for third place over fourth place boat sailed by Paul Wilsey and Butch Hartsig.

Also bravely completing all three races were the Nate Wilsey, Menz and Belknap boats finishing in fifth, sixth and seventh place respectively.

Sailboat races will be held every Saturday at 3 p.m. on Fourth lake through August 17th. ll sailboats are welcome, especially sunfish.
