Memorial service set for Lilian van Welzenes

Lilian M. van Welzenes died on July 6, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in the city of Haarlem in the Nether-lands on September 23, 1942, the daughter of Johanna and Edouard van Welzenes. She moved to the United States in 1965 and eventually to the Adirondacks settling in Inlet, NY. 

She was an avid outdoors person and lover of nature. Her love of the outdoors and the Adirondacks blended with her work as a wilderness ranger for the DEC in the Moose River Plains and later for Great Camp Sagamore in Raquette Lake.

She is survived by her three children Frances Parent, Kevin Macdonald, and Kara Rosen, her nine grandchildren Cameron, Sasha, Emmet, Reid, Hannah, Emily, Flynn, Matthew and Nicholas and her good friend William Shaw.

A memorial service for Lilian will be held at St. Anthony’s Church in Inlet on Saturday, July 13 at 11:30 a.m.
