Thirty-two Herkimer County 4-H members participated in 4-H Public Presentations held at the Herkimer High School on Thursday, March 3rd.
The 4-H members, from all over Herkimer County, took turns giving illustrated talks, demonstrations, or job and college interviews in front of judges who evaluated their presentation skills.
All 4-H members (5-19 years old) were invited to give their presentation in front of trained volunteer evaluators.
The evaluators constructively critiqued each presentation and provided positive feedback as well as suggestions for improvement.
The evaluators for the event were John Skinner, JoAnn Richards, Kim Creater, Judy Pasick, Cathy Eysaman and Jennifer Hartsig.
Among the seven participating Cloverbud 4-H members—kindergarten through second grade—was Darby Bick of Old Forge.
Among the twenty-five participating Traditional 4-H members was Fern Bick of Old Forge who was chosen to advance to District 4-H Public Presentations in Oneida County on April 16 for her presentation on Dystopian Fiction.
By participating in this event, 4-H members improve their public speaking skills while developing self-confidence, poise, self-esteem, stage presence and knowledge, giving them an advantage over their peers in this lifetime skills area.
