Helen Estabrook: Tree dedicated to former Webb teacher

Helen Estabrook and the Town of Webb School's Helen Estabrook Tree

Helen Estabrook is a much honored and well known member of the Old Forge community. She is a retired teacher from the Town of Webb School and was a dedicated member of the school’s Board of Education for 13 years.

In front of the school is a new sign, and to its left is a newly planted small tree which honors Mrs. Estabrook for all her years of service to our school.

Most of you familiar with Mrs. Estabrook, know her for the wonderful teacher she was.

But outside of her career at school she has led a very interesting life in our community. Continue reading

Webb School Memorials honor notable contributors by Lizzie Riehle

Town of Webb School Building

This new school year, four new trees were planted outside of the Town of Webb School along with a brand new sign that was constructed out front.

There is a special story behind those four trees, and chances are if you think they are there for the Adirondack looks—then you don’t know about all of the other memorials placed in the Town of Webb Union Free School District.

Throughout the entire school there is a different story waiting somewhere to be told, yet so few people know about them.

In the past, very dedicated and influential faculty have retired; including Mr. Downey, Mr. Tracy, Mr. Allen and more.

But placed around the school are many different types of memorials in honor of various people who have made changes to the school and community in the years past. Continue reading
