The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks has announced that, as a result of a partnership with the Town of Webb Police Benevolent Association (PBA), there will be two Students of the Year for 2011.

Ada Rannels of Thendara, Student of the Month for October 2010, and Alicia Burnett of Inlet, Student of the Month for November, have been chosen as Students of the Year for 2011.

Ada is the daughter of Betty and Norman Rannels of Thendara and Alicia Burnett is the daughter of Adele Burnett of Inlet. They are both seniors at the Town of Webb Union Free School.

Ada and Alicia will be recognized at the Kiwanis Dinner Meeting on Monday, May 16 where each will receive an Award Certificate and a $500 scholarship to further their education.

“We are pleased with the opportunity to partner with the Kiwanis Club to provide scholarships for two very deserving students,” said Kevin Birtle, president of the PBA.

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks, with the cooperation of the Town of Webb Union Free School, are initiators of the Student of the Month/Year recognition program.

The selection criteria for the honors are community service, academics, athletic involvement, student need and extra curricular activities.

Ray Schoeberlein, Chair of the Kiwanis Student of the Month Committee, extended his sincere appreciation to Principal Rex Germer, Guidance Counselor Kandis Griffin, Key Club Advisor Diane Amos, and the entire Town of Webb School administration for all their effort and cooperation in this excellent student recognition program.
