Michelle LaDue offers relief to Haitian earthquake victims

Michelle N. LaDue, M.S. L.Ac. has recently returned from a medical mission to Haiti where she worked with the free, mobile, Naturopathic Relief Clinic for Haitian Earthquake Victims.

While there, she and many others helped over one thousand people providing children and members of poor communities with acupuncture, herbal medicine, homeopathic remedies, essential oils and flower essences.

With many Haitians still suffering from the trauma of the catastrophic January 12, 2010 earthquake, malnutrition is common as are skin diseases, worms, infections, cholera, and other maladies caused from unclean water and sanitation.

Michelle said she found the Haitian people to be delightful and was impressed with the sense of community they have, of how they take care of each other.

“Some of the patients who came to the clinics had never seen any type of physician before and seemed to respond to the acupuncture treatments,” Michelle said.

While there, she had a translator working with her and found that when she spoke to them in their own language, French Creole, they lit up, which enabled her to connect even deeper with them. Continue reading
