Local native Mike Beck appointed as Inlet Golf Club’s new PGA Pro

When the gates open to the Inlet Golf Club this May, golfers will be greeted by Mike Beck as the course’s new golf professional.

Beck, an Inlet native who previously served as assistant pro at Thendara Golf Club, and most currently as the PGA pro at Vesper Hills Country Club, will fill the golf shoes of the late Roland Christy who passed away in April 2013.

Beck said he has the highest respect for the Lind family, owners of the course, and is humbled by the appointment.

Inlet Charity Golf Scramble honors memory of Judy J. Hitchcock

The Ladies’ 9-Hole League at Inlet Golf Club hosted their Charity Golf Scramble supporting Bladder Cancer Awareness on Wednesday, July 24th. The event was held in honor of Judy J. Hitchcock, a member of the 9-Hole League, who lost her four-month battle with bladder cancer on July 21, 2012.

The golf tournament raised a total of $3,366 with the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network receiving $3,112 and an additional $254 going to the local Hamilton County Hospice.

0724 IGC PanaramaThe maximum of 64 golfers signed up for the event, which included 34 women and 30 men, with more interested golfers on a waiting list. Over 70 golfers and non-golfers attended the awards luncheon and Chinese Auction that followed.
