LETTER: Bully tactics in Town of Forestport government

To the Editor:

At one of the budget workshops where all Town Board members compile ideas for the upcoming budget, Supervisor Parker Snead tried to suppress one of the Board members from speaking.

Charles Scott started to address the board members, but when Parker figured the point Charles was making, Parker tried to silence him.

Charles actually had to say to Parker, words to the effect of, “Do you want to hear what I have to say or are you just going to bully me?” Continue reading

Former Supervisor speaks out about budget spending

To the Editor:

Enough is enough! I have stayed out of the town business since the new supervisor took over, but now he is up to his old ways of doing business and knocking my administration to the point where I can no longer sit back, and now I must speak out and give the taxpayer the facts.

Recently, Mr. Snead has come public with his desires to cut salaries and benefits to our hardworking and dedicated town employees. Continue reading

Forestport seeks volunteers for town Halloween Party

The Forestport Youth Program is holding a casting call and party for volunteers to help with a Halloween event planned for Saturday, October 25 at the Forestport Town Hall.

Volunteers are needed for set-up of the haunted trail, to assist with games for the kids, and judging the costume contest.  Continue reading

Forestport Garden Club to host garage sale

The Adirondack Forever Wild Garden Club will hold a Garage Sale at the Forestport Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall on Woodhull Road on Saturday, August 23rd.

The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in conjunction with the Old Forestport Days celebration.

A raffle for a huge garden-themed basket will take place at the end of the day. The winner need not be present to win. Proceeds of the sale will help fund local community projects.

Forestport: Memory of Harold Pier to be honored at Full Moon Kayaking Outing

The second annual Harold Pier Memorial Full Moon Kayaking Outing will be held Sunday, August 10 on the Forestport Pond.

Put-in begins at 6:30 p.m. at the River Street access and the Woodhull Street access, just past the turn to Forestport Station. Continue reading
