Just Call me Mrs. Lucky by Jan from Woodgate

Lucky Dogs reopening: How ’bout a side of conversation

Yippee for Spring and all things green! Yay for new life and the final farewell to snow(still have one stubborn roof pile nagging me), and adios to squishy mud.

We have survived yet another winter season, and in an effort to provide comfort to my Lucky Dogs customers we have endured yet another project. Raisin’ the roof—that’s right, this year we can all enjoy the summer months here in Woodgate underneath a delightful new covering that will keep us cool and dry while munching on hot dogs and other goodies.

Trust me, this was no easy project. Mr. Lucky is a dirt guy, but this year he was forced into banging nails over his head. And if it weren’t for our good friends and neighbors our roof would be at ground level. Hey Scotty G., can’t thank you enough for keeping him sane and somewhat grounded, and more importantly, from taking his wife’s life when things got tough.

Ya get high with a little help from your friends… We’re just not height kind of people but I’m constantly amazed by those who have no fear of the upper levels. Take, for instance, Tim Hulser and his comrade extraordinaire Fearless Freddy. Ladder, climb, and up. Talented dudes for sure with mad building skills.

And then we have Tony Sege, who just adores all things “dogs”, right here when we needed him most. And last, but surely not least, Mr. Philip Rubyor, Prince of Men, and Woodgate’s very own Peter Pan. Going on 77 years young, he is just one amazing fella and I love him more than life. hank you all tons for making the job go so well.

Yeah, welcome to Woodgate folks, home of some really great people and good pals. We’re shooting for a May 1st opening date, and this year we’ll be open every day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., serving breakfast and lunch.

Here’s your warning: I’ve been a bit conversation-starved all winter so I may want to chat. I’m looking forward to hearing what everyone’s winter down south held, as well as those of us that remained, so be patient with me….your food’s a-comin!!!
