Niccolls Women assist disaster relief project

The Niccolls Church Women’s Fellowship invites the community to take part in a project that will benefit the Church World Service charity.

During the month of April, the women will be collecting items for hygiene kits which will be sent to Church World Service (CWS) for redistribution in cases of natural disasters, violence, or grinding poverty.

At the time of Hurricane Sandy, CWS sent 18,420 hygiene kits to those affected by the storm. Kits are sent to victims of disasters domestically and around the world.

The community can assist by contributing a complete kit or any of the individual supplies for a kit.

Kits are easy to put together. Just place all items (listed below) in a one-gallon plastic bag with a zipper closure, remove excess air from the bag, and seal.

Each kit should contain: One hand towel measuring approximately 16” x 28” (no fingertip or bath towels), one washcloth, one wide-tooth comb, one nail clipper, one bar of soap (bath size in wrapper), one toothbrush in original packaging (no toothpaste please), and six standard  size Band-aids®.

If you don’t wish to provide a complete kit just bring any of these items to Niccolls. The Niccolls Women’s Fellowship will assemble them into kits and send them to Church World Service. Sample hygiene kits are on display at the church in the hallway between the front and rear doors.

Kits and kit supplies may be left in boxes provided near the parking lot door of the church throughout the month of April. More information is available by calling the church office at (315) 369-3475.
