Webb: It’s a winter wonderland, and seeing is believing, says Mike Farmer

Since the snow began to fall in mid-December, Town of Webb Publicity Director Mike Farmer, has been doing his best to get individuals who love the snow to log onto the Old Forge website, oldforgeny.com, and check out the area webcams “because seeing is believing,” he said.

“What folks will see on their screens—a Currier and Ives look of snow-draped pines—is what they’ll find when they come here,” Farmer said.

And that beautiful backdrop can be viewed while enjoying every aspect of outdoor recreation the area has to offer, he added.

Farmer cited that in addition to Nordic skiing opportunities at McCauley Mountain, folks can cross-country ski and snowshoe an abundance of trails, and enjoy ice skating at the town’s rink at the lower Joy Tract Rd.

A big bonus, he said, is all of the places there are for folks to stay, and the convenient access to the Town of Webb and Inlet groomed snowmobile trail system.

Farmer said the holiday week between Christmas and New Year’s was fantastic for snowmobilers, and commended Tim Pylman and his crew for their professional job of grooming the trails.

“Riders are in heaven when they hit our trails. We’ve had the perfect storm—literally,” he said.
