Kate Fish of ANCA to serve on Governor’s new council

Governor Andrew Cuomo joined regional leaders on Thursday, July 28 to announce the creation of the North Country Regional Economic Development Council.

The announcement was made during an event at SUNY Potsdam.

Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) Executive Director Kate Fish was one of 18 general members chosen by Governor Cuomo to serve on the newly-formed Council.

The Council is part of a new statewide initiative that will be instrumental in guiding future development for the region.

The Regional Council will coordinate the economic development of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis counties.

All seven counties fall in ANCA’s 14 county service region, which also includes portions of three other economic development councils: Capital, Mohawk Valley and Central New York.

In response to the news of the appointment of Executive Director Fish, ANCA Board President Steve Erman said:

“We are very pleased with the focused attention that our region’s economy will be given through the new Regional Economic Development Councils. We are also pleased that Kate Fish, an experienced professional, has been selected by the Governor’s Office to be a key part of this effort.”

ANCA is looking forward to assisting, as needed, each of the regional economic development councils that involve portions of the Adirondack North Country.

“I am delighted to be able to participate on the North Country Regional Economic Development Council and look forward to working with regional stakeholders on developing a strategy for the North Country,” Fish said.
