Niccolls Dance to support Parkinson’s unit, Aug. 7

Life is Motion will be the theme of a Scottish square dance or Ceidhli (kay-lee) that will be held on Sunday, August 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Niccolls Church Fellowship Hall in Old Forge.

No dancing experience is necessary and all ages are welcome to join in the fun. Dance instruction will be taught, and dances “called.”

The evening will celebrate retired Niccolls’ pastor Jim Ulrich’s 40th year in Old Forge. Cake and beverages will be served throughout the evening.

Baked goods for a silent auction are being sought. Donations from the evening and bake sale proceeds will go to the Presbyterian Home’s Parkinson’s unit in memory of Jim’s father, Leroy George Ulrich, who suffered from Parkinson’s Disease.

The Presbyterian Home’s Parkinson’s unit is located in New Hartford and is a nationally recognized facility. It provides telemedicine for movement disorders, thereby eliminating painful travel to facilities outside the immediate area. Treatment is available to all Parkinson’s patients in the area.

Proceeds of the event will help with renovations for the unit’s in-patient residence.

More information on the event is available by calling Lani Ulrich at (315) 369-3647 or Niccolls Church at 369-3475.
