Debbie Brosemer’s biathlon activity supports Children’s Miracle Network

Deborah (Debbie) Brosemer, the pharmacist at Kinney Drugs in Old Forge, participated in the Biathlon on Sunday, June 10 at McCauley Mountain to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN).

This was her second year of taking part in the combined race and rifle sharpshooting event to raise money for CMN.

Her employer, Kinney Drugs, supports the Children’s Miracle Network every year by challenging their stores to find ways of raising money for the charitable cause.

Donations by Kinney customers helped support her effort. Debbie was joined by her daughter, Allyson, 15. They ran a 3-mile course up and down some of the ski hills and cross country trails at McCauley, she said.“You run a mile and then shoot at a target, and depending on how many you miss, you may have to do a penalty lap and run another mile, then shoot at five more targets,” she said.

The Biathlon ended with prizes won by four people who had donated to the fundraiser. Every time someone made a donation at the store, Debbie said, they got a star or a little tag that was put on a poster with a bullseye underneath.

Following the race they shot at the bullseye and four different people who donated to CMN each won a prize.

“We’re really appreciative of everyone who did donate and I’d like to thank them all. It was a great cause and I was really happy to see more local people join in the Biathlon this year,” she said.

The total raised for Children’s Miracle Network as a result of Debbie’s Biathlon participation was just under $2,600.

Kinney Drugs does not sponsor the Biathlon, but allows employees to take in donations that go directly to the Children’s Miracle Network.
