Broadway Meets Opera: Anticipating another stellar night at View

A year ago, we wrote to thank Deke and Carol Morrison for bringing three stellar stars to View for a program entitled ‘Broadway Meets Opera.” View was sold out with a crowd ready to hear majestic voices in concert.

This year, on Friday, August 24, at 7 p.m., View will once again welcome tenor Luigi Boccia, soprano Claudia Boyle and pianist Arthur McManus to grace Gould Hall.

Luigi Boccia has garnered numerous awards and recognition.

A versatile recitalist, Mr. Boccia is at home in repertoire ranging from florid Handel areas to the romantic outpourings of Italian and Neapolitan song. After his solo recital on the closing day at Ireland’s prestigious Wexford Music Festival, Opera News declared him ‘the festival’s star discovery.’

Claudia Boyle, a Dublin native, graduated from the Masters course at the Royal Irish Academy of Music with first class honors.

In July 2009, she was awarded third prize at the Belvedere International Singing Competition in Vienna.

In September 2010, Claudia traveled to the Netherlands where she won the opera category at the International S’Hertogen-bosch Opera Competition.

Pianist Arthur McManus has collaborated with numerous singers in the New York metropolitan area for over twenty years.

He served as pianist for master classes conducted by such illustrious singers as Licia Albanese, Robert Merrill and Martina Arroyo as well as in the studio of Metropolitan Opera baritone Theodor Uppmann.

Once again we thank Deke and Carol for another Broadway Meets Opera at View.
