Hoofbeats in the Adirondacks: riding exhibition set July 12th

After the success of last summer’s performance, Hoofbeats in the Adirondacks will once again be held at Moose River Farm on Thursday, July 12 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Hoofbeats in the Adirondacks is a combination of classical Dressage, vaulting, and horses at liberty set to beautiful music, as well as an expression of equestrian performing arts.

This year’s cast includes the Root Farm Vaulters, of Verona who will perform dizzying acrobatics on horseback.

Also, USDF bronze medal recipient, Valerie McCloskey, owner of Whisper Wind Farm of Westmoreland, will perform classical Dressage to music.

Amateur rider, Carin Mei, of New Hartford will perform with her Andalusian and Lusitano horses.Several Moose River Farm riders and horses will also participate, including the 2012 MRF Quadrille, which will perform a military precision drill to inspiring new music.

Moose River Farm in Old Forge is a lesson and boarding facility owned by Rod and Anne Phinney.

New this year, Hoobeats in the Adirondacks will also be introducing Pawprints in the Adirondacks where Heidi Fuge of Galway will perform with one of her Australian Shepherds.

The emcee for this event will once again be Laura Hand, News Anchor and Community Affairs Director of NBC 3 in Syracuse.

Aside from being an avid horsewoman with special interest in fox hunting, Laura has been honored with numerous journalism and community awards.

In addition, Brendan O’Meara, author of “Six Weeks in Saratoga”, will be on hand to sell and sign copies of his book about 2009 Horse of the Year, Rachel Alexandra.

Equine artist, Sarah Brander will also be present.
