Members of the Inlet Area Business Association (IABA) met at the Big Moose Inn on Thursday, May 17 for a social gathering and to discuss the organization’s upcoming events and future activities.

The IABA’s goals include the creation of business related activities that will help draw visitors to the Inlet area.

The organization, though not in the event planning business, supports events that benefit the area. An example of their work is the upcoming Black Fly Challenge, which is being run by the Adirondack Mountain Bike Association.

Jim ConnertyThrough the support of the AMBA, the organization was able to double the purse of the challenging bike race, now in its 17th year, that will take place on Saturday, June 9th.

The race takes bikers on a 40-mile grueling trek from Limekiln Lake, through the Moose River Plains, and to Indian Lake.

The IABA, with the help of members Sharon Evans and Dale Stanton, is currently reestablishing its not-for-profit status.

The group recently updated its bylaws which are posted on their website: www.groupspaces.com/IABA.

The proposed bylaws will be voted on during their next regular meeting scheduled for  6 p.m. on Thursday, June 14 at the Inlet Town Hall.
