More than a dozen fifth through eighth grade students in Gregory Clark’s Instru-mental Music class at the Town of Webb School will be taking part in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Solo Festival at Watertown High School on Saturday, April 28.

Students who will be participating in the event are: MacGregor Ritz-Kenney, Jacob Prichard, Jacob Taylor, Chloe Barkauskas, Blake Greene, Olivia Phaneuf, Megan Greene, Lauren Beckingham, Emily Greene, Sydney Payne, Paige Schweins-berg, Nick Branch, Fern Bailey, Kevin Zehng, Abby Kelly, Mary Roach and Lexie Beal.The students have prepared an instrumental solo piece that will be evaluated for tone, technique, accuracy and interpretation of the composers intent. Proficiency in sight-reading will also be evaluated.

The Solo Festival is not a competition, according to Clark, however each student will receive a score for their performance.
