Services held for Barbara Buckley Dolan, 66

Barbara Jane Buckley Dolan, 66, of Bridgewater, NY passed away peacefully on February 13, 2012 following a long illness, at Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare, with her loving family by her side.

She was born August 28, 1945 in Lowville. She grew up in Thendara and attended Town of Webb Schools graduating as Salutatorian in 1963.

She was an accomplished Tuba player in both high school and college.

She attended SUNY Oswego and graduated in 1967.One of her first jobs was as a counter girl at Uncle Sam’s for Betty Pulling.

She also worked in the office of Singing Waters and as a local telephone operator.

Barbara was married to James Dolan in 1974. The couple made their home in Margate, Florida.

She returned to the Utica area in 1980 and was employed by the Oneida County Department of Social Services.

She worked in several departments of social services in both the Rome and Utica offices and retired as a supervisor. She was respected and admired by her co-workers.

Barb has lived in Bridgewater at the Brookside Mobile Home Park since 1981 where she leaves many special friends and neighbors, especially the Ephram family.

Barbara was an avid reader and especially loved science fiction. Aunt Barbie instilled a love of books and reading in all her beloved nieces and nephews.

Barb is survived by her mother Cecelia DeMoors Buckley of Thendara; brother Mark (Avis) Buckley of Norwich; sister Betty (Norman) Rannels of Thendara; six nieces: Joy and Ada Rannels; Lynn (Brett) Russell; Whitney and Brianna Buckley; Wendy (Greg) Harmon; four nephews: Bob Baerman; Steve (Kim) Baerman; Evan Rannels; Martin Buckley; great nieces: Yvonne Duguay Mekkri, Becky Baerman; Jessica Buckley; great nephews: Jon Paul (Sandy) Duguay; Christopher (Michelle) and Toby Baerman, a great great nephew Gabriel Duguay and several others.

She was predeceased by her husband, her father, and her sister Hilda Buckley Baerman Carman.

Barbara loved her nieces and nephews and Christmas. She was always so loving and generous but was especially so at Christmas, so much that her beloved nieces and nephews called her Santa Barbie.

The family is grateful to the staff of Faxton St. Luke’s Critical and Intensive Care Units and to Sitrin Rehabilitation where Barb was a patient several times.

A memorial service was held on February 19th at the Dimbleby Friedel, Williams and Edmunds Funeral Home in West Winfield with Rev. Deacon Barbara Groves officiating.

Internment will be May 19th at the Riverview Cemetery in Old Forge.
