Regional economy focus of CAMP project

Representatives from five Adirondack townships and Herkimer and Oneida Counties have been meeting approximately every three weeks since late November to develop the framework for a regional marketing plan with the intent to revitalize and support the local economy.

The Central Adirondacks Marketing Partnership (CAMP) project includes participants from Forestport, Indian Lake, Inlet, Long Lake and Webb and is being coordinated through the Central Adirondack Association (CAA) and CAP-21.The goal of the project is to promote strategies that can help drive a four-season economy that allows businesses and communities to thrive in balance with the uniqueness of our Adirondack space.

The program is being funded through a US Department of Agriculture Rural Development Stronger Economies Together grant, with technical assistance and facilitation through Cornell Cooperative Extension and Remsen native J. Caroline Williams.

Project teams have been going through nine training modules leading to the creation of a regional plan that will be announced by early spring. The draft regional plan will be distributed at that time for public comment.

CAP-21 and CAA would like to thank VIEW which has generously provided classroom space for these sessions, with additional sessions also scheduled for Inlet and Blue Mountain.
