Services held for Michael DeLouisa, 58

Michael A. DeLouisa, age 58, of New Hartford, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital, with his beloved family by his side.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on August 1, 1953, a son of the late Ralph and Yolanda Anzalone DeLouisa. On August 20, 1972, he was married to Donna Kelly in the Lady of Loretto Church in Hempstead, Long Island, NY, a blessed union of 39 years.

Michael was the owner and operator, along with his sons, in the operation of their family business, Mike’s Wallpapering and Painting Co. of both New Hartford and Old Forge. A self-made man, Mike had the honor of working for celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Lauren Bacall and Sigourney Weaver.

Mike also had a passion for music and was the originator and drummer of the Fulton Chain Gang band of 15 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Old Forge and was a volunteer firefighter in Old Forge until he relocated to New Hartford.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Donna; two cherished sons, Michael DeLouisa, Jr.and David DeLouisa; his cherished daughter, Tara DeLouisa and her fiancé, Mario Hanna; his beloved grandson, Dane DeLouisa; his sister, Maria and her husband, Richard Varney; one brother, Joseph DeLouisa, of Long Island; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

The family would like to thank the 6th floor staff of St. Luke’s Hospital for their compassionate care. Special thanks to Dr. Razia and Julie Milograno and staff from Hospice.

Visiting hours were Thursday, December 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc., 1122 Culver Ave., with funeral services following.
