McCauley Mountain Ski Center in Old Forge will host the annual Polar Bear Ski Club’s Consignment Sale on Saturday, November 5 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

“It’s a fun day because everyone is excited for the season to start and it is the first time of the season that the McCauley family gets together,” said McCauley Mountain Manager Steve Uzdavinis.

New and used equipment will be available by consignment for purchase throughout the morning.

Those wishing to contribute items for the consignment sale may do so by bringing items to the Chalet between 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, November 4, or between 8 and 9 a.m. the day of the event.

The Polar Bear Ski Club will host an informational meeting following the consignment sale. For those interested, information on the Ski Club’s pre-race program, Kinderwood ski program, and the TOW School ski program will also be available on Saturday. Additionally, the mountain will be offering numerous new programs through the on-site Ski Shop operated by Ted Christodaro.

Christodaro said new programs include three levels of an 8-week two-hour class for pre-racers that will take place on Saturdays, as well as new Freestyle and Free ride clinics for those who wish to sharpen their bump skills.

The Ski Shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, offering hundreds of new and used items for sale, including great buys on rental equipment. McCauley Mountain season ski passes will be available for sale at an Early Bird rate.

Pre-season pass prices are $239 for adults, $179 for juniors ages 18 and under, and immediate family season passes will be available for a maximum of $836.

Those who purchase their season pass at the consignment sale will also receive a free lunch.

Pre-season prices are available through December 1.

This year’s event will also include a volunteer workday to help prepare the slopes and trails for the upcoming ski season. All volunteers are welcome.

Spectators will also be able to watch the Ski Patrol conduct chairlift evacuation demonstrations.

“They’re a lot of fun to watch if you have never seen it,” Uzdavinis said.

The McCauley ticket office will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays (excluding Thanksgiving day) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those who wish to purchase season passes and gift certificates.
