Hydrofracking talk set Nov. 14th at Woodgate

An informational video presentation on hydrofracking, the process of extracting natural gas from underground shale by use of water pressure, will be held at the Woodgate Library on Monday, November 14 at 7 p.m.

The 45-minute video, What You Need to Know about Natural Gas Production, was produced by Theo Colborn, PhD and covers issues related to the hydrofracking process including drying of the natural gas, waste products, and dangers to the environment.

On Wednesday, November 16 at 6 p.m. the Forestport Town Board will hold a public hearing concerning the placement of a one-year moratorium on hydrofracking and dumping of waste products within the township.

The state of New York is expected to allow the granting of permits for hydrofracking no later than February.
