Elise Carlson tapped for Arts Center events and facilities post

Elise Carlson of Hamilton, NY has been selected as the Events and Facilities Manager of the new Arts Center in Old Forge.

“I’m thrilled to be joining such an inspiring and talented group of people. I aim to add a myriad of new events that will reflect the art of the Adirondacks but that will also push boundaries in an effort to attract a wider audience outside of the Adirondack Park,” Elise said.

“As a lifelong summer resident of Old Forge, I’m delighted to be working in one of the places I consider to be the most beautiful in the country.”

Elise is a 2005 graduate of Boston University College of Communications where she majored in Public Relations.

She has worked in marketing and special events management for several organizations in New York City, and had internships in public relations, sales and marketing in Syracuse, Philadelphia and Boston.

Her work experiences include a year-and-a-half stint at Madison Square Garden where she was involved with a variety of diverse events, ranging from a Lady Gaga concert to New York Knicks basketball games.

Elise returned to upstate New York in October 2010.

She will begin her work on Monday, April 4.

Arts Center Executive Director Jennifer Potter Hayes said Elise will help to promote and organize events such as weddings and conferences, and also annual fundraising events such as the Antique Show, the Paint-Out, and the House Tours.

“She will also be contributing her own ideas for events and fundraisers,” Potter Hayes said.

According to Potter Hayes, there were 80 applicants for the position, and over 100 for the Performing Arts Program Manager job won by Alan Saban.

She said a grant from the Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Inc. will support both positions for the first year to help establish this new direction of the Arts Center.
