Services held for Shiley M. Marleau, 81

Shirley M. Marleau, 81, of State Route 28, Otter Lake passed away on September 18, 2011 at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.

She was born in Utica on September 18, 1930 a daughter of Arthur and Lila McLean Edick. She grew up in Hinckley, moving to Forestport, then Otter Lake.

On July 22, 1950 at St. Patrick’s Church, Forestport she married Walter Marleau. He died in February of 1971.

Shirley was the owner of Marleau’s Service Station, grocery, and gift shop which she operated for 15 years until it burned in 1971.

She was a member of the Election Board in Woodgate for 21 years.

She is survived by one son Walter A. Marleau of North Port, FL; one daughter Valerie VanDresar of Otter Lake; three grandchildren Jodi VanDresar, Nicholas VanDresar, and Walter Scott Marleau; three great grandchildren, Aaron, Elizabeth, and Jaelynn Mitchell; two sisters, Diane Countryman of Mohawk and Rosetta Christman of Mohawk; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sunset Nursing Home for the patience and care given to Shirley.

Funeral services were Thursday, September 22 at Mills Funeral Home, Boonville, with calling hours prior to the service.
