Kiwanis Club & Tickners offer student paddle outing

Members of the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks treated Town of Webb students in grades 3rd through 6th to an afternoon of kayaking at Tickner’s Canoes on Wednesday, September 21, as part of their annual Kiwanis Youth Experience with Kayaking.

The kayaks and staff members who helped the children in and out the kayaks were provided through the generosity of Tickner’s, said Sheila Brady, Committee Chairman of the event for Kiwanis.

“It was a beautiful day on the Moose River and sixty children took part,” said school principal, Rex Germer, one of the chaperones.

The students climbed into kayaks and paddled from Tickner’s landing to the Thendara Bridge, then back again where they enjoyed refreshments before returning to school.

According to Brady, the yearly event provides many of the children with their first paddling experience.
