Two Inlet Common School students were honored with awards from the Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District for their entries in recent essay and poster contests conducted by the organization.
Chelsea Clark was the overall winner for the sixth grade essay contest and Richie Lutz received honorable mention in the poster contest.
Seventy-six Hamilton County fifth and sixth graders submitted entries based on the theme: Conserving Hamilton County’s Natural Resources.
Students from five area schools, including Inlet Common School, participated in the 36th Annual Lynn Galusha Memorial Conserva-tion Field Day held on the Adirondack Eco Trail behind the District office in Lake Pleasant.
They spent the day learning about saving our natural resources and nature in the Adirondacks.
This is the fourth consecutive year Inlet Common School students received county recognition for their efforts.
The Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District has been working to manage and promote the wise use of natural resources in Hamilton County since 1965. Visit www.hcswcd.com for a video and photos of this year’s Conservation Field Day event.
