Some excerpts from poems of Parker Snead

Parker Snead was a Captain, a Husband, the Forestport Town Supervisor; a Forestport Man. Below are excerpts from his poetry:

FROM: ‘FORESTPORT MAN’

We hear the old snow plows, they shake this old cat house,

Snowmobiles are whining,

The furnace is humming, we get as comfortable as we can,

Another day comes to an end for the Forestport man.

We all hear the phone ring and after talking for a while,

A conversation with a good friend has caused me to smile,

We talk about getting together as soon as we can’

Another day comes to an end for a Forestport man.

FROM: ‘CHRISTMAS IN FORESTPORT’

We loaded our tree in the wagon

and headed the team towards home.

It will be nice to smell Christmas dinner

And sit by the fire and get warm’

To share the season with family and friends’

Bring out the wine and pop off the cork;

These are my favorite memories’

Christmas in Forestport.

FROM: ‘FORESTPORT TWIN BRIDGES’

People in wagons, automobiles and trucks

Would stop right in their tracks

To experience the falls and the beautiful Twin Bridges,

Gateway to the Adirondacks.

FROM: ‘BIRTHDAY GIRL’

I remember so many May the tenths,

And many of our special birthday trips

Out at sea at camp and with special kin

All wishing my Joanie birthday happiness within.

A POEM of Fondness to Parker Snead

With all the care and loyalty; hard work and dreams for the town he loved;

Feeling of wonder and awe with the love he held for his friends, his town and his wife…

Parker Snead left this world leaving behind a foot print that no words can erase, no ill thought can compete,

And no loved one will forget; that footprint in the sands of time will forever hold his love for his wife, family, friends, and Forestport.
