If you have never visited the Town of Webb Historical Association’s Goodsell Museum, all I can say is, “You should!”
It is so interesting how they’ve preserved our history. And, since history is being made every day, it becomes a continual process.
The displays and artifacts are fascinating and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful.
The Senior Health Activity and Recreation Program (SHARP) participants experienced history first hand at the museum last week.
They learned a lot about the museum, our town’s history and even contributed their own stories and memories.
My favorite part was when the staff brought out the town’s family tree.
It is a couple of generations behind, but it was remarkable to see it and make connections.
SHARP participants pointed out family names and even added their own additions and corrections.
We were not only learning about history, we were helping make it! You, too, could be a part of this wonderful group and participate in our upcoming November events.
We will visit the Old Forge Library on November 4 and discuss other upcoming November activities.
On November 11 we will visit Lakeside Terrace, participate in a writing workshop, and play Pitch and other games.
And to help us stay sharp and educated, on November 18 we will learn about CPR and basic first aid instruction.
Please note that we will not be meeting on November 25th.
SHARP is a free program offered to all independent senior citizens from Woodgate to Raquette Lake.
We meet at Niccolls Memorial Church in Old Forge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday.
Lunch during our regular Wednesday sessions is provided by the Community Health & Wellness Fund (formerly the Town of Webb Health Center Fund.)
