Opera and Broadway music aficionados have the opportunity to attend a performance by world-class opera singers, baritone David Pershall and mezzo soprano Krysty Swann at VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, on Thursday, August 20.

Pershall, a Temple, TX native, recently returned to the states after performing the part of Rodrigo in Don Carlo at the Austrian Opera Festival, Oper Burg Gars.

He will make his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City on December 29 and January 1 as Figaro in The Barber of Seville.

In January 2016 he will also perform at the Met as Schaunard in La Bohéme and in February he is cast as Lord Cecil in Maria Stuarda.

Swann, a native of Detroit, MI, has an impressive career that includes multiple performances at the Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall, and opera houses in Austria, Milan, and South Africa, among others.

She has performed as soloist in Messiah with the Rochester Symphony Orchestra and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Next season she will make her debut as Amneris in Bucharest National Opera’s production of Aida.

The singers will be accompanied by pianist Arthur McManus, who was accompanist at the inaugural Broadway Meets Opera event at VIEW in 2011, and again in 2013.

The 2011 concert by tenor Luigi Boccia and mezza-soprano Heather Gallagher followed an invitation by board member and opera fan Deke Morisson of Old Forge who watched them perform at Vero Beach Opera House in February of the same year.

For the past five years Morisson has been successful in enticing top notch opera singers from Vero Beach Opera House to perform before a Central Adirondack audience.

The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $35. Seating is limited; advanced sale tickets are recommended.
