Robert Seager of Forestport has announced that he will be seeking the office of Town Super-visor in the upcoming November election.
He will be running on the Democratic line.
Seager said he also intends to seek the Independence nomination when party members vote in their primary on Tuesday, September 10th.
Primary voting for all parties will be from Noon until 9 p.m.
As in past campaigns, Seager stated that he doesn’t believe in rewards or favoritism in return for support.
The only promise he makes is that he will do the best job he can, if elected.
And, he said his background is ideally suited to the position.
“I have been the Town Super-visor. I’ve been a Council-man, Codes Officer, Assessor, Planning Board Chairman. I’m currently on the Library Board and Cemetery Board,” he said.
“I’d be able to come in and hit the ground running, not have to go through a learning curve.”
Seager said he is not interested in demeaning anyone as he seeks office.
But, he said, there are improvements he would like to make.
“I’d put the town back on a level keel and stop all the controversy that [has given] the town rather a black eye,” he said.
Seager said it’s not proper to place blame, but that he finds the rough goings-on of late disturbing.
“We worked kind of hard for a long time to make this place something decent, and then to have it go down like this,” he said in reference to certain newspaper letters he’s read.
“Again, I’m not trying to demean anybody. I’m just running to try and bring some calm to the whole issue; to the town,” Seager said.
“I’m running to bring my experience to the town, and try to make us go forward.”
