Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company of Old Forge will sponsor the 2011 Paddle for the Cure, a 6-mile leisurely paddle on the Moose River, on Saturday, September 17, with all proceeds from the fundraising event to support the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund.
This is the third year for the event. During last year’s event, 265 paddlers raised almost $15,000 for breast cancer research.
“Everyone at Mountainman really looks forward to this event. Participation grows every year and we get to meet some wonderful people. It’s a lot of fun and a fantastic way for us to fight a disease that affects so many families,” said John Nemjo, president of Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company.
The event is being organized by Janice Sell of the Upstate Medical Center – University Hospital of Syracuse, who reported that participant pre-registrations have run very strong.
The Paddle for the Cure will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m.
