The Community Transportation Service seeks to bolster volunteer driver force

An Open Letter to the Community:

Brother or sister, can you spare some time? Perhaps only a day a month?

If you are over the age of 30 and have a good driving record, the Community Transportation Service LTD would appreciate you as a volunteer driver.

The non-profit organization operates solely by volunteerism and donations.

They provide three vehicles in the Old Forge/Inlet area that can be dispatched for local individuals seeking rides to medical appointments and for other needs.

There is also service in the Hamilton County areas of Indian Lake and Speculator/Lake Pleasant.

Drivers are needed to provide this transportation.

Volunteer coordinator Cindy Beckley will take calls requesting rides and then match drivers for those trips.

She has a roster of names, but often calls five or six drivers before finding someone who is able to accept the assignment.

The nice thing about volunteering is that you can always say “not this time.”

So if you would like to “pay it forward,” give Cindy a call at phone (315) 369-2830 to discuss your situation to see how you might help this vital service in your community.

Thank you,

The Board of the

Community Transportation

Service (CTS)
