Country vocalist, Tim McGraw, sings, “Just to see you smile, I’d do anything…”
I volunteered for many years in the activities department of a nursing home. I wanted to help, serve, give and learn. I wanted to, and still do, strive to help others find hope, meaning and a smile.

What I have found is that I come home feeling like I am the one who received those gifts, including the smile. I am more convinced than ever that our senior citizens make a positive impact on our lives.
As summer is a very busy time for some of our regular volunteers, SHARP is in need of some new volunteers of any age.
It’s a great way to enjoy time with people in our community and help make a difference in other people’s lives.
There are many benefits to volunteering with SHARP, but one very important one is what you could learn from those who have “been there, done that.”
Seniors want the same things in life as anyone else, so come volunteer with SHARP and you may find that not only have you helped them to smile, you will be smiling yourself.
A special note to our summer senior residents…you are welcome to come be a part of the Senior Health, Activity and Recreation Program (SHARP).
Come and enjoy a fun social time with other seniors in an atmosphere where your ideas, experience, and input are important.
This free program is offered year round for those age 65 and up from Woodgate to Raquette Lake.
We meet at Niccolls Memorial Church in Old Forge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday.
Lunch during our regular Wednesday sessions is provided by the Community Health & Wellness Fund (formerly the Town of Webb Health Center Fund.)
