INLET: Black Fly Challenge race and family weekend set June 13 & 14

The 20th annual Black Fly Challenge Bike Race, presented by Pedals & Petals of Inlet, will start from Indian Lake’s Byron Park at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 13.

Over half the 40-mile race goes through the wild and scenic Moose River Recreation Area with a mix of bikes found nowhere else. Competitors on mountain bikes, cyclocross bikes, tandems, and unicycles have completed the race.

A purse of over $9,000, with special prizes, will be given out at this year’s post-race party, which will feature live music by Showtime. Food, beverages and a bike raffle will also be available.

The winner of a custom Epic Black Fly Challenge fatbike, valued at more than $2,000, will be picked at the post-race party and trademark Black Fly Challenge logo merchandise will be available as well.

A family fun day is planned for Sunday, June 14, featuring the Second Annual BFC Mountain Bike Rodeo and Races. An event geared toward kids of all ages—including adults—the Rodeo and Races will also be held at Inlet’s Fern Park.

Races will include a Kids Race with several age divisions, Circuit Race and Hill Climb. Rodeo events include a Barrel Race, Slow Race, Log Pull, Balance Race and Longest Wheelie.
