Election petitions available for pickup by Webb political hopefuls

By Marianne Christy

Petitions are currently available for pickup at the office of Town Clerk Nanci Russell for those interested in running for various Town of Webb positions in the 2015 elections.

Up for election this year are the positions of Supervisor, Town Clerk, Highway Superintendent, Tax Collector, two Council seats, Town Justice and Herkimer County Legislator.

Incumbent Clerk Nanci Russell (Republican), Highway Superintendent Casey Crofut (Republican), Tax Collector Kelly Hunkins (Democrat), Councilman James B. Herron (Republican), Justice Jack Graham (Republican) and Herkimer County Legislator Patrick Russell (Republican) have all announced their bids for reelection.

Ted Riehle, who is currently serving his second term as supervisor, said he has not yet decided if he will seek reelection

After gathering public input regarding her husband Robert’s intent to run for Town Supervisor, democrat Mary Brophy Moore has decided not to run for a second four-year term on the town board…though she said she would not rule out running again in the future.

Robert Moore, a democrat who served as Webb Supervisor from January 2002 to December 2011, announced in March that he would be seeking his former position.

Another former Webb public servant, democrat Barbara Green, has announced her intention to run for a seat on the town council, a position she has previously held.

The first day prospective candidates can get out and have party designating and party petitions signed is Tuesday, June 2.

Petitions must  be filed with the Herkimer County Board of Elections from July 6 to 9.

The first day to have independent petitions signed is July 7; filing dates with the county are August 11 to 18.

Primary elections will take place on Thursday, September 10 from noon to 9 p.m.

More information is available by calling Nanci Russell at (315) 369-6799 or the Herkimer County Board of Elections at (315) 867-1104.
