Plenty of activities are planned for our weekly Wednesday gatherings in June at SHARP, our Senior Health Activities and Recreation Program.
We are also preparing for our big fund-raising community event on Saturday, June 6, Retro Day, that will celebrate the 1950’s. CAP-21 is sponsor of this event.
During our program on June 3 we will be involved with final planning and putting the final touches on the event.
We will be putting together our raffle baskets and playing some of the games we have planned for Retro Day.
All are invited to join us from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Old Forge Fire Hall on June 6.
Come dressed in 50’s attire and join in the fun. Volunteers are needed from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and would be most appreciated.
If you are unable to come to the community fundraiser event, but would like to make a donation, please make your check payable to CAP-21/SHARP and drop off at CAP-21, 216 Park Ave. in Old Forge, or mail to: CAP-21, P.O. Box 642, Old Forge, NY 13420.
We will have a Flag Day Celebration at our Wednesday, June 10 meeting, and participants are asked to wear red, white and blue.
There will also be Yoga with Kathy Queen, trivia, and word puzzles. A volunteers’ meeting will follow at 2 p.m.
Weather permitting will will have a picnic at Nicks Lake on Wednesday, June 17. If it rains, we will have the picnic on June 24.
Otherwise, on the 24th we will play Monopoly and other table games, do chair exercises and plan our future events.
Each week we offer snacks, card games and other activity options.
SHARP is a free program offered to all independent senior citizens from Woodgate to Raquette Lake.
We meet at Niccolls Memorial Church in Old Forge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday.
Lunch during our regular Wednesday sessions is provided by the Town of Webb Health Center Fund. For more information, call or text (315) 225-7553, or email activitiescoordinator4seniors@yahoo.com. Check our Facebook page anytime for updates. Search: SHARP
