Since 1973, Alan Pylman, Richard Sypek and Jim Plasky have taken biannual fishing trips to Buck Pond, which Pylman described as being relaxing, enjoyable and somewhat typical.
But following a day of angling on Thursday, May 14, they had a less than typical story to tell about ‘the ones that got away’…and they weren’t talking about fish.
While out on the pond, the threesome saw two animals come out of the woods and head north on the railroad tracks. From about 30 yards away, they first thought they were coyotes…until they got a look at their short tails. When the animals turned their heads their way they were amazed to discover they were Canadian Lynx.
Alan, the oldest son of Char and the late Dutch Pylman, said he pretty much grew up in those Big Moose area woods and throughout his lifetime he has seen just about every form of wildlife, but the siting of the two Lynx was the most exciting.
