The Town of Webb Board appointed two new Webb Police officers at its monthly meeting held on Tuesday, May 12.
Anthony Capristo, a native of Schenevus, NY and an Iraqi war veteran, was hired as a full-time officer.
Officer Capristo will transfer from the City of Oneonta Police Department where he has served for the last two years.
He will begin his duties on June 1.
Edward McIlroy, of Otter Lake, who retired as an investigator with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office following over 20 years of service, was appointed as a part-time officer.
His service was set to begin immediately.
“I’m very happy that the Town of Webb was able to get this type of experience without the expense of putting someone through the academy.
“There is no substitute for gaining the years of experience of these two officers…we are very fortunate,” said Webb Police Chief Ron Johnston.
