Last week I thanked organizations and the many volunteers who help to make SHARP so successful.
This week I would like to extend my thanks to the people who have donated supplies for our activities.
We’ve received many items such as scrapbooking supplies, items for prizes, games, etc.
I would also like to say a special thank you to community members who come and share their knowledge, talents and skills with us.
Some of those people keep coming back and the seniors really enjoy what they share with us.
It truly takes a village to make our program something special.
We are continuing to work on plans for our first community fundraising event: SHARP Retro Day! Come and celebrate the 1950’s with us on Saturday, June 6 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Old Forge Fire Hall.
Here’s a sneak peak at what we are planning for this event: Dollar games, free snacks and 1950’s music.
Come dressed in 50’s attire and win a prize.
Can you do the Twist, the Bop or some other popular 1950’s move? Enter our dance competition…our seniors, who actually lived in that era, will be judges. Prizes and bragging rights will be awarded.
Other friendly competitions and activities will be announced in future articles!
SHARP is open to all independent senior citizens from Woodgate to Raquette Lake, and is a free program unless otherwise noted.
Lunch during our regular Wednesday sessions is provided by the Town of Webb Health Center Fund.
We meet at Niccolls Memorial Church in Old Forge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday. For more information, call or text (315) 225-7553, or email activitiescoordinator4seniors
