Saturday, June 4th Inlet: Falls Pond hike among events planned in observance of Trails Day

In commemoration of National Trails Day, which is scheduled for observance on Saturday, June 4, the town of Inlet will host a public hike to Falls Pond, to be led by Mitch Lee.

The length of the hike will be about 6 miles round-trip.

All are welcome to participate, and those interested can meet at the Inlet Town Hall at 9 a.m. on the morning of the hike.

From there participants will carpool to the trailhead north of Inlet in the Moose River Recreation Area.

Everyone should pack water and a snack and dress for the weather, Lee said.

They should also prepare for the bugs.

This year’s National Trails Day is the 19th annual and American Hiking Society and outdoor enthusiasts are expected to participate across the country.

The day of observance and activity is a long-standing celebration of America’s magnificent trail system and its countless supporters and volunteers, Lee said.

More than 1,500 events will take place around the country, including trail maintenance, hiking, paddling, biking, horseback riding, bird watching, running and trail celebrations, according to Lee.
