Old Forge: Events abound throughout town, March 13, 14 & 15

There will be no shortage of things to see and do in and around Old Forge this St. Patrick’s Day weekend with many events and activities planned.

• Major snowmobile manufacturers representing Arctic Cat, Polaris, SkiDoo and Yamaha will reveal their 2016 models at the 8th Annual Snofest at the George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center on North Street in Old Forge on Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14.

Hours for the two-day Sneak Peak event are Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

There will be demo rides, snowmobile accessory vendors, door prizes and food provided by Tony Harper’s Pizza & Clam Shack.

North Country Heli-flight will be on location to give helicopter rides for a fee, weather permitting.

A drawing for an 11-foot enclosed Blizzard trailer with custom-made Snofest decals will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Tickets are $10 each and available at the event, at the Old Forge Visitor Information Center or online at: SnofestUSA.com.

The drawing will be followed by a fireworks display.

• The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Old Forge begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 13 from Keyes Pancake House.

The parade, led by Parade Marshal Jack Moore, will proceed up Main Street to the Old Forge Fire Hall.

All are invited to the fire hall following the parade where there will be Irish stew, soda bread and green beverages.

• The Town of Webb School Drama Department will present the musical, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors (ages 62-plus) and $5 for students.

• McCauley Mountain will be the center of activity on Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, lift tickets are reduced to $17 throughout the weekend. Also buy your 2015/2016 season’s pass and ski the rest of this season free.

On Saturday, registration begins at 9 a.m. for the Citizens Downhill Ski Race. The race starts at noon. Proceeds of the race will benefit the Kommunity Youth Activity Center (KYAC) in Old Forge.

The 61st Annual Snowflake Derby will begin at 1 p.m. The event is open to skiers of all ages and abilities and includes a rope race and a dual slalom race.

Sunday’s events begin with Pond Skimming at 1 p.m.

Come dressed in your wildest ski outfit and skim across the pond. The Lucky Duck Raffle to benefit the McCauley Ski Patrol will follow.

Enjoy pasta and chicken dishes at The Last Run Café from 3 p.m.

Live music by Doug Green will be performed from 3 to 6 p.m.
