Eagle Bay Fire Department readies Chili Cook-off, Open House; Feb. 28

The Eagle Bay Fire Department invites all local restaurants, professional and amateur cooks, and those who cook for local fire houses and organizations to enter its 2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, February 28.

Chili will be judged in the following categories: Professional, Amateur,  Fire Department and People’s Choice. 

Individuals, organizations and restaurants will compete to win cash prizes while fire departments vie for bragging rights and the honor of having their name engraved on a rotating trophy.

Registration forms must be recieved by Saturday, February 21 to be eligible for the competition.

All entries must be received at the fire house by 11 a.m. the day of the event with applicants providing their own means of keeping their entries warm. Judging will take place from  noon to 1 p.m.

The public is welcome to join in the fun at a chili tasting from 1 to 5 p.m., or as long as the chili lasts.  Donation is $5 per person. Other food and refreshments will also be available for purchase throughout the day.

In addition to the Chili Cook-Off, the fire department will hold an Open House. There will be a 50/50 raffle too.

A portion of the proceeds of the event will be donated to the Wounded Warriors Project
