Services set for Daniel Hitchcock, 43

Daniel R. Hitchcock, 43, of Eagle Bay, was lifted up by our Grace from his home and into his arms on Friday, January 10, 2015.D. Hitchcock

Born on January 7, 1972, in Rome, the only son of Timothy Hitchcock and the late Judy Hitchcock, Dan grew up in the Adirondack community of Inlet, NY, with his three sisters.

He graduated from the Town of Webb School in 1991, where he formed lifelong friendships. Dan attended Canton College and ultimately came back to the community he loved so much.

As the proud owner/operator of Dan’s Big M in Eagle Bay, Dan’s infectious smile greeted everyone that walked into the store, and one was unable to resist his kindness and generosity.

Dan was always willing to give to those in need and touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

Dan married his true love, Heidi Johnson, on September 18, 2005. Together they created a family, Dan’s greatest love.

Each and every day since they were born, Dan hugged and poured his loved into his three daughters. Above all, his family, and the special times they spent together, was what he lived for.

During football season, Dan, a lifelong fan, spent his Sundays rooting for the Dallas Comboys. Even during their worst seasons, he still remained loyal.

He enjoyed a round of golf during his free time in the summers and he had a penchant for the casino, where, on more than one occasion, he beat the odds.

Dan loved getting together with his friends, having a good beer and telling stories of the “good ole times.”

With broken hearts, Dan is survived by his loving wife, Heidi; three daughters, Addison, Courtney and Natalie all of Eagle Bay; father, Timothy Hitchcock of Inlet; three sisters, Lori Hitchcock and Paul Dolan of Albany, Jennifer Gaffney and Lyndon Sheldrick of Inlet and Dianna Ste-Marie and her husband, Ron of Inlet; nieces and nephews, Kyle and Bailey Hitchcock-Powers, Jamie Gaffney, Bryce Ste-Marie and Aaliyah Johnson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and Debra Johnson of Ilion and brother-in-law, Michael Johnson of Ilion. He is also survived by his lifelong friends, Joe Yahnke, Jeff O’Hern and Mike Shwamle.
