There are times in one’s life when we tend to “lose our happy,” and steps need to be taken immediately to rectify the situation.
For instance, the weather here in the north country no longer makes me smile. The older me totally dislikes the cold dark months—there are just so darn many of them.
Once again we are entertaining thoughts of a southern move…for real this time.
However, in the interim—and before I take the life of some innocent—I need to find my happy.
And this shall be accomplished by glomming it off of others, you know, the winter enthusiasts.
Luckily the White Otter Fish and Game Club allows me to participate in the annual Shootout festivities.
I get to help out by serving up some burgers and dogs—right up my alley!
Just watching all the happy ‘bilers makes me smile. They adore this season and have the bucket loads of cash required to enjoy the sport.
In addition, the delightful little Forestport Diner has graciously invited me to put in a few hours this winter and that too makes me smile.
Think I actually heard my hubby LOL while I was starting my car the other day.
Of course most of these folks hail from way warmer, dryer areas than where we chose to reside.
Tons of snow is a novelty to them, no doubt because they don’t spend countless days and months removing it from their living quarters.
Whatever. They are happy and I NEED to feed off their glee.
The local bars and restaurants are chock full of friends and families enjoying the season—a win/win for business owners and tourists alike.
Smiles and laughter will lighten my sour attitude and allow P.R. to drop both eyelids when slumber occurs.
Not a pretty season for hubby around here, especially while my shovel is close by at the ready for months on end.
So let us pray for a safe season for all. All you servers out there, pay attention to what you are serving to whom.
Safety first. Please just slow those crazy machines down, and may the 2014/15 winter season make history as the year when nobody gets hurt.
And keep smiling people, my happy depends on it!
